ECC Health Policy A child with any of the following symptoms will be excluded from the center: 1. Thick yellow or green discharge from the nose or eyes. 2. Atypical behavior for the child, such as lethargy, fussiness & lack of appetite. 3. Vomiting. 4. TWO watery stools in succession, and/or if the child is not acting like his/her self. 5. Skin rash or lesions indicating a possible infectious illness. (chicken pox, ringworm, roseola, hand-foot-and-mouth etc.) 6. Pinworm, scabies, or head lice, and/or nits. 7. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) 8. Any other indications of an infectious disease. 9. If a child is acting sick and has a temperature equal to or greater than 100 degrees under arm or 101 degrees orally or aurally(ear), he/she will be excluded unless a health professional says the child may be in school.  *A child may return to school only AFTER being fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT any medication.  If you bring your child back to school and the fever or any other illnesses recur, you will be asked to pick him/her up. **A child may need a doctors note explaining what the child was treated for and when they may return to school. ***A child may also NOT return to school until 24 hours AFTER the first dose of an antibiotic is given, even if the doctor says it is O.K. … EXPOSURE NOTICES – In the event of exposure to an infectious disease, a memo will be circulated to the parent/guardian of each child in the involved classrooms informing them of exposure.  The memo will be distributed by the end of the next school day after the staff receives notification of the illness. …MEDICATION – NO MEDICATION, including aspirin or acetaminophen, may be administered to any child unless ordered by a licensed physician.  If your child needs fever reducing medicine to get them through the day at school, they should be kept home.  If your child is to receive any prescribed medication while at the program, it must be properly labeled with the child’s name, medication, dosage, physician’s name and date.  Please fill out an “Authorization to Administer Medication” form and sign it.
